The event commenced with the AAOM PhD Consortium, held at Curtin University Malaysia’s campus on June 25, 2024, and chaired by Prof. Mike Peng (University of Texas at Dallas, USA). It was supported by an esteemed panel of professors: Prof. Subra Ananthram (Curtin University, Australia), Prof. Garry Bruton (Texas Christian University, USA), Assoc. The conference sessions took place at the Pullman Miri Waterfront and were co-chaired by Assoc. Prof. Wen-Dong Li (Chinese University of Hong Kong), Assoc. Over 30 AAOM and 7 TAOM sessions were held, along with two CTSEM workshops. A highlight of the gala dinner was the symbolic passing of the AAOM presidency from Prof. Jane Lu to her successor, Prof. Mike Peng, marking a new chapter for AAOM’s leadership.

The conference concluded with an organised visit to the Borneo Tropical Rainforest Resort, providing participants a unique opportunity to experience Borneo’s rich natural environment. Also, a tour of Miri City offered further insights into the local culture and heritage, adding a meaningful cultural dimension to the academic event. This conference exemplified the value of combining rigorous academic discussion with cross-cultural engagement, further strengthening relationships within the global academic community.
