Traditional research at the individual level concentrates on the relationship among variables. This PDW introduces two potentially new ways to develop and test theories about the phenomenon of individual employees: (1) a person-centered instead of variable-centered approach, and (2) a social relational approach to understand employees in group dynamics. Both approaches may provide us very different perspectives in understanding the effect of individual profiles and interpersonal interactions.
